NIST Multizone Modeling Website
  1. What is CONTAM? CONTAM is multizone airflow and contaminant transport analysis software.   More info...
  2. What's new in CONTAM?  CONTAM 3.2 added an ultra-violet germicidal irradiation (UVGI) filter model, provided contaminant exfiltration result files and a SQLite database result file, and enabled co-simulation between the EnergyPlus whole building energy analysis program and CONTAM. More info...
  3. Where do I get CONTAM?  CONTAM and associated software are freely available. You can download CONTAM after registering on this page.
  4. How do I run CONTAM?  After you install the software, you can run CONTAM from the Windows start menu. More info...
  5. How do I model my building in CONTAM? You can start by viewing the user tasks which cover the overall process of using CONTAM. There are also tutorials here.
  6. What can I use CONTAM for? Review the applications and case studies sections of this web site for some possible uses of CONTAM.
  7. What features does CONTAM have? / How do I use them? This overview covers CONTAM's features. The user guide and program documentation goes into more detail on how to use CONTAM's features.  It is included with the program and is accessed under the help menu. Or if you don't have the program yet you can get the user guide and program documentation.
  8. Where do I go if I need support for CONTAM? Pressing the F1 key while using CONTAM will open the context-sensitive help system which contains the user guide and documentation. There is also an online version of the documentation. If you cannot find an answer in the documentation you can reach the CONTAM developers and other CONTAM users via the CONTAM user group.
  9. What if I find a bug in the program? First check to see if you are running the latest version of the program by checking the date of the program in the about dialog with the date on the software page. If not then download the updated program. Otherwise you can provide the developers with a description of the problem via the user group.
  10. What other resources are available? There are four types of library files available in the data library: Airflow element, schedule, wind pressure profile, and filter libraries are available.
