Andrew Persily Receives ASHRAE Award
Andrew Persily of the BFRL received a Distinguished Service Award from the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) at their annual meeting in June 2006. This award, which recognizes ASHRAE members who give freely of their time and talent on behalf of the society, is based on Persily’s contributions in the areas of standards development and committee activities. The award makes note of his leadership as chair of the committee that revised ASHRAE Standard 62.1, Ventilation for Acceptable Indoor Air Quality and his membership on the ASHRAE Ad Hoc Committee for Building Health and Safety Under Extraordinary Incidents. Under the latter effort, he helped develop ASHRAE’s first satellite broadcast on homeland security and participated in the development of ASHRAE guidance on building safety.
