Researchers in BFRL Receive Top Technical Awards
Research teams from BFRL’s Polymeric Materials Group received the two most prestigious technical awards presented at the 2004 International Coatings Exposition, held in Chicago, Ill., with approximately 6,000 participants in attendance. Joannie Chin, Jonathan Martin, Tinh Nguyen, and Eric Byrd received the first place Roon Foundation Award in recognition of their paper, entitled “Validation of the Reciprocity Law for Coatings Photodegradation”; while LiPiin Sung and Jonathan Martin of NIST, Kurt Wood of Arkema, and Jenny Faucheu, a guest researcher at NIST, received the John Gordon Award for their paper, entitled “Relating Gloss Loss to Topographical Features of a PVDF Coating.” Both papers are related to the research activities of the Coatings Service Life Prediction Consortium. This consortium has been ongoing at NIST since 1994.
