World Trade Center Survivors Public Briefing

NIST, Columbia University, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene held a joint press briefing and public meeting in New York City on April 8, 2003, to present World Trade Center (WTC) studies relating to occupants and first responders. Jason Averill represented the NIST investigation at the press briefing. The primary objective was to encourage participation from WTC occupants, employers, and first responders and to demonstrate the public value of the investigation and other studies. Reporters from local and national media attended the event, as well as representatives from several survivor and victims’ families groups. Questions were taken from reporters and the groups.
