FIATECH AEX Project Demonstrates Interoperability for the Equipment Supply Chain
At the recent FIATECH Technology Conference, the BFRL-led AEX (Automating Equipment Information Exchange) Project demonstrated interoperability among owner design, engineering, procurement, and pump supplier software applications with implementations of the AEX XML schemas. FIATECH member organizations (AVEVA, Bechtel, Bentley, DuPont, ePlantData, and NIST), members of the Hydraulic Institute (Intelliquip, ITT/Goulds Pumps and Sundyne) and additional software suppliers all collaborated to demonstrate they could go from owner operator pump requirements to mechanical specifications to bids from multiple pump suppliers to final selection in 20 minutes, a process that normally takes several days or weeks using paper and fax.
