BFRL’s William Davis Awarded Superior Civilian Service Award
William Davis of the Integrated Performance Assessment Group in the Fire Research Division has been awarded a Superior Civilian Service Award from the U.S. Department of the Army for recognition of his contribution to the Stem-to-Stern Safety Review of the Central Artery/Tunnel project. Working with the Office of the Inspector General of the Department of Transportation, Davis was instrumental in reviewing fire protection systems, and in specifying a more severe “worst-case” design fire for the safety review. The review followed the collapse of concrete ceiling panels on July 10, 2006, which killed a motorist. The collapse did not involve a fire.
